AFRA is a luxurious book featuring a bespoke yacht interior by the dynamic and pioneering Emirati designer Afra Bin Suloom. Continuing in the maritime traditions of her forefathers and Old Dubai, Emirati interior designer Bin Suloom has employed her signature sophisticated ethos in the interiors of Afra, an exceptional 50-metre yacht. Curated by Catherine Belbin Communications, the 100-page book features photography by award-winning Dubai-based photographer Naveed Siraj and words by American writer Dorothy Waldman and Catherine Belbin.

Based on the lines of a traditional Dubai dhow, the interiors of Afra illustrate Bin Suloom's classic yet contemporary interpretation of the luxurious and elegant geometric and distinctive straight lines of the Art Deco era. The result is a warm, welcoming interior for the custom yacht, which is illustrated on this book's pages.

The designer is among an emerging group of UAE nationals who are taking a proactive role in keeping Dubai's maritime heritage alive and propelling it into a new modern era. Her long-standing affinity with the sea has always aroused her greatest interest, leading her to specialise in yacht design. Both her curiosity and her talent have been influenced by her family's role in traditional Dhow- and boat-building.
